What to Pack

The tropical climate of Jaco means lots of heat and humidity. The first thing on your packing list should be sunscreen as the sun beats hot down here. Enjoy the beach responsibly and make sure you avoid sunburn!

The best time of the year to visit is between mid-December and early April. These are the driest months, so that means lower humidity and little to no rain. Expect hot days and crisp, clear blue skies. You’ll need bathing suits, summer clothes, sneakers, and bug spray. It’s also a good idea to pack a light sweater as some nights can be milder during the dry season.

From April to July, the weather begins to transition to the wetter season. It’s still a great time to visit, especially if you prefer fewer crowds. Expect some rain showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon–pack a rain jacket or poncho!

July through November are spectacularly rainy; Jaco receives the fewest number of visitors during these months. If you don’t mind a few rainy days, this time of year is truly special. The wetter conditions make for emerald rain forests, overflowing rivers and thundering waterfalls, and cozy, relaxing vacation.
